Hot Rods Win 1-0 over West Michigan

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods took down the West Michigan Whitecaps with a 1-0 win Wednesday night. RHP Tommy Romero was phenomenal and the Hot Rods offense did just enough to secure the win.
Romero got the start for the Hot Rods and he threw seven innings and allowed just five hits and one walk over seven innings of shutout baseball. He earned his ninth win of the season and improved his record to 9-3.
The Hot Rods got their lone run of the game in the fifth inning when 3B Justin Bridgman singled to lead off the inning. Then with two outs CF Carl Chester tripled him home and put the Hot Rods up 1-0.
The Whitecaps only got a runner to third once in the game, and that was in the eighth inning off of RHP Tyler Zombro. RF Brady Policeli singled to leadoff the inning and then was out trying to advance to second on a wild pitch. Back to back hits and a hit by pitch loaded the bases with two outs, but Zombro was able to get a groundout to retire the side.
Zombro ended up getting his fourth save of the season as he sent West Michigan down 1-2-3 in the ninth to secure the 1-0 win.
The Hot Rods and Whitecaps continue their three game series tomorrow at 6:35pm at Bowling Green Ballpark. The Hot Rods send LHP Resly Linares to the mound, and he will be opposed by RHP Jesus Rodriguez for the Whitecaps.
