LAST NIGHT: Fort Wayne fell to Bowling Green, 5-4, in 11 innings in the season opener at Parkview Field. After the TinCaps took a 1-0 lead in the second (Eguy Rosario RBI double), the Hot Rods tied it in the third, and took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth. Jorge Oña cut the deficit to one with an RBI double of his own only for BG to build its lead back to 4-2 in the seventh. Fort Wayne tied the game, 4-4, in the eighth thanks to a Fernando Tatis Jr. RBI single and a wild pitch with a runner at third. BG won it in the 11th with a run-scoring triple from Robbie Tenerowicz.

GAME 1, SELLOUT 1: 7,561 fans came out to Parkview Field on Saturday, making Opening Day a sellout. (The TinCaps had 21 sellouts in 2016.) Saturday was the third largest Opening Day crowd in Fort Wayne history. The record was set in 2012 (8,577). The first ever game at Parkview Field in 2009 ranks second (8,208). If today's crowd is greater than 4,754, then Fort Wayne will have its largest ever attendance through the first 2 games of the season (current mark: 12,315 - 2009).

PADRES ON DECK: The TinCaps are wearing white Padres jerseys today and for every Sunday home game this season. Fort Wayne has been a San Diego affiliate since the 1999 season. Last September, the clubs renewed their Player Development Contract through the 2018 campaign.

BACK WHERE WE LEFT OFF: The TinCaps ended their home slate in 2016 with back-to-back extra-inning games. Fort Wayne played 15 extra-inning games last year, going 5-10. The TinCaps lost a Minor League-leading 31 games by 1 run a year ago.

QUOTABLE: TinCaps manager Anthony Contreras, "I don't know if it's a Fort Wayne thing, but kind of like last year, when we get to the eighth and ninth innings we seem to turn something on and make it interesting."

YOUTH MOVEMENT: At 17, Eguy (Eggy) Rosario is not only the youngest TinCap and not only the youngest in the Midwest League, but the youngest player in all of Minor League Baseball right now (according to Baseball America). Reinaldo Ilarraza is the 4th youngest in the MWL, while Fernando Tatis Jr. checks in at 5th, Hudson Potts 7th, and Jack Suwinski 10th. They're all 18. (In 2016, there were only 4 18-year-olds in the entire Midwest League on Opening Day.)
