Wednesday, August 27, 2014 - Fort Wayne, Ind. - First Pitch 7:05 p.m. - Game 134/139
About Last Game : The TinCaps blew out Bowling Green, 12-3, and set some records along the way. See below for more details.
A TinCaps Win Would : Be their second in a row, and third straight against West Michigan... Keep them in the hunt for the Eastern Division wild card.
Scoreboard Watching : The TinCaps trail Dayton by 2.0 games for the wild card. The Dragons host Lansing tonight at 7:00. Meanwhile, FW is 1.5 games behind Great Lakes. The Loons host Lake County at 7:05 p.m. Bowling Green is 0.5 game in front of the TinCaps. The Hot Rods play at South Bend at 7:05.
Fort Wayne Home Run Record : The 2014 TinCaps have hit more home runs than any team in Fort Wayne'2 22-year franchise history. Nick Schulz's sixth-inning grand slam last night was the club's 98th of the season, surpassing the previous high of 97 - set by the 2009 TinCaps.
Perez Powers Into History : With a two-run homer in the first inning Tuesday, Fernando Perez upped his RBI total on the season to 91. That number leads the Midwest League and also tied Will Venable for the Fort Wayne franchise record. The current San Diego Padres outfielder drove in 91 runs for the Wizards in 2006.
That's Not All : Perez has now hit the most home runs in TinCaps history, dating back to 2009. His 17 are tied for fourth most in Fort Wayne franchise history. The single season record belongs to Jake Patterson, who vaulted 20 longballs in 1997 for the Wizards.
Schulz Sparks : Schulz's grand slam last night was just one of his five hits. He also hit a solo home run in the fifth and had three singles. Schulz became the first TinCap to have a five-hit game since Yeison Asencio did on July 29, 2012. With six runs batted in, the corner outfielder tied Fernando Perez's mark for most by a TinCaps player in 2014.
Season High for Hits : While Perez and Schulz shined brightest, all nine players in Fort Wayne's lineup reached base Tuesday. Eight had at least one hit, as the team tallied 19 in all - their most in a game in 2014.
BIG FUN : It's Matt Wisler Bobblehead Night pres. by Source One Solutions.
