Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Fort Wayne TinCaps rallied late to erase a five-run deficit on Friday night at Parkview Field, but ultimately lost to the Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate), 10-6, in 10 innings. This was the opening game of the season's second half.

The 'Caps (0-1, 27-40) trailed 5-0 as they came to bat in the eighth. Without a hit or even benefitting from an error in the frame, Fort Wayne scored three runs thanks to four walks and three wild pitches.

Then, in the ninth, the TinCaps equalized as center fielder Robert Hassell III came through in the clutch with a two-run single. The Padres' top prospect in Minor League Baseball raised his season batting average to a Midwest League-best .318 as he went 3-for-6, including a double.

However, the Loons (1-0, 41-26), who won the first-half East Division title to clinch a spot in September's postseason, responded with five runs in the top of the 10th.

Corey Rosier drove in a run in the home 10th on a groundout. The left fielder also had a hit, two walks, and two runs scored on the night.
