June 25, 2022 - Midwest League (MWL)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Beloit trailed the Lansing 5-2 after five innings but used 12 unanswered runs to down the Lugnuts 14-5 on Saturday night at Jackson Field.
With the win, the Sky Carp seal their fifth straight series win and move to 2-0 to start the second half.
After Beloit scored first on a bases loaded walk from Cody Morissette in the second, Denzel Clarke blasted a two-run homer in the bottom half to put Lansing in front 2-1. The Sky Carp tied it back up on a Kyler Castillo sac fly in the fourth, but the 'Nuts stormed back to score three runs off Evan Fitterer in the fourth and took a 5-2 lead into the fifth.
From there, it was all comeback Carp.
Fitterer finished his day by tossing two zeros on the board, finishing his day with six full innings of work.
The Sky Carp offense took flight starting in the sixth with an RBI single from Castillo to make it 5-3. In the seventh, Beloit pulled ahead with a four-run frame, using three straight RBI singles from Ynmanol Marinez, Dalvy Rosario and Marcus Chiu.
The comeback turned into an onslaught in the eighth, as eight straight batters reached, allowing Beloit to score six more runs, thanks in part to four walks and a hit by pitch.
The final Sky Carp run came in entertaining fashion in the ninth, as Lansing left fielder Patrick McColl moved to the mound. Beloit was able to turn around two of his 45-MPH loopers for hits and scored on a sac-fly from Rosario to make it 14-5.
Beloit will close their six-game series with the Lugnuts and 12-game road trip Sunday afternoon at 1:05 ET.
The Sky Carp return home on Tuesday at 6:35 to start a six-game set with the South Bend Cubs. Tickets are available on SkyCarp.com.
