Moncton Wildcats News Release

The Moncton Wildcats of today and tomorrow shared the ice at the Coliseum this past weekend. The 19th annual Tim Horton's Timbit Hockey Jamboree attracted close to 2,000 young hockey players.

Minor hockey in the Southeastern New Brunswick area also received a major financial boost. The Wildcats donated $7,616.00 while the Tim Horton's Smile Cookies program added $31,861.00 to minor hockey associations in the region.

Current Wildcats players came out to show their support by being available for autographs and presenting medals to the starry eyed youngsters. Jeff Bell and Devon MacAusland, two members of this year's team are graduates of the Timbit program which started 19 years ago in Moncton. There are now over 3,000 young people involved in the area and close to 50,000 across Canada.

The big thrill for the tykes was the parade of teams which took place during the second intermission of the Saturday night game against the Quebec Remparats and the Sunday afternoon contest with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The two games drew 12,000 spectators.
