The Storyline

Timbers2 (6-6-10, 32pts) are currently on the outside-looking-in as they host The Town on Sunday afternoon. Sitting in ninth place in the West, T2 are even on points with eighth place Houston, but Portland having two less wins gives Dynamo 2 the advantage and the final playoffs spot. With six games to go in the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, Timbers2 will look to edge The Town and put pressure on those still fighting to secure a postseason spot.

The Town FC (8-6-8, 36pts) is sitting in seventh place in the West and is enjoying (for now) a comfortable four-point gap over the final playoff spot in eighth. In order to keep that cushion, they'll have to step into Providence Park and come out with a victory over a Timbers2 squad that wants to be in postseason zone.

It will be the third and final meeting between the two in 2024 regular-season play. The Town walked away from Portland with a 3-1 win back on March 22, but T2 returned the favor by snagging all three points at Saint Mary's Stadium in California on August 4.
