Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers continue their homestand as they play host to Sporting Kansas City, in a match presented by Daimler, on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Providence Park. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match features a regional television broadcast on ROOT SPORTS with local radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
Game 300
The Timbers will square off against Sporting KC in the club's 300th MLS regular-season match on Saturday. Portland has posted a record of 114-101-84 in league play, with only two MLS teams having fewer losses among the teams that have played in the league since 2011.
Recent form
Portland (12-11-4, 40pts) recorded a 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake on Aug. 31. The win was the Timbers' third in their last five games and the seventh match in their last 10 games in which the team has earned at least one point in league play. Diego Valeri tallied the game-winning goal in the 16th minute, while goalkeeper Steve Clark made six saves, including a critical stop in the final minute of second-half stoppage time to help Portland secure the win.
Against Sporting Kansas City
Saturday's match marks the first of two meetings between the Timbers and Sporting KC over Portland's seven remaining regular-season matches in 2019. The Timbers will play their final road match of the season against Sporting Kansas City on Sept. 29. Portland has earned at least one point in four of its last five matches (1-1-3), including playoffs, against Sporting KC. In the last meeting, Portland earned a 3-2 win on the road at Children's Mercy Park on Nov. 29, 2018, to secure its second Western Conference Championship in four seasons.

Up next, the Timbers square off against D.C. United on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Providence Park. Beginning at 12:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match features a national television broadcast on ESPN with local radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).

"Talk Timbers" provides team and league news as well as interviews with Timbers coaches and players during the season, and also features regular updates on T2 and Portland Thorns FC. Timbers video/data analyst Shannon Murray and defender Larrys Mabiala joined this week's show.
