
Timbers Sign Goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers have signed goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg, the club announced today. Vom Steeg joins the club from LA Galaxy and will be under contract through 2022 with team options for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Vom Steeg, 24, made 58 appearances with LA Galaxy II in 2017 and signed with LA Galaxy in 2018. The goalkeeper signed his first professional contract with Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany's top tier, Bundesliga, in August 2016. Vom Steeg spent two seasons there, recording 13 appearances for Fortuna Dusseldorf II.
At UC Santa Barbara, Vom Steeg earned 2015 All-Big West Honorable Mention accolades and was named to the 2015 Big West All-Freshman Team. The goalkeeper finished the single season as a freshman in 2015 logging 20 starts and posting a 13-5-1 record.
At the international level, Vom Steeg has spent time with the U-14, U-15, U-17, U-18 and U-20 U.S. National Team squads.
