Timbers Fall 1-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MLS Season Opener at Rio Tinto Stadium

SANDY, Utah - The Portland Timbers surrendered a second-half goal to Vancouver Whitecaps FC, falling 1-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Sunday night. The Timbers return home to Providence Park to play host to Houston Dynamo FC in their MLS home opener on April 24.

Debuts

Claudio Bravo and Josecarlos Van Rankin made their MLS debuts in the match. Bravo logged 84 minutes, while Van Rankin played 90 minutes. In addition, Ismalia Jome made his Timbers MLS debut, entering the match in the 85th minute.

Upcoming Matches

Portland (0-1-0, 0pts) will embark on a stretch of four games in 12 days, starting with their MLS opener at Providence Park on April 24. The Timbers will then play host to Club América in the first leg of their Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League quarterfinal matchup on April 28, before traveling to FC Dallas for a league match on May 1. Portland then visits Estadio Azteca for the second leg in the quarterfinals of the SCCL against América on May 5.
