Tigers top Juniors in SO 6 to 5

Montreal - The Montreal Juniors visited Victoriaville to face the Tigers tonight. Filled with much drama and lead changes, the Tigers were victorious by the score of 6 to 5 in a shootout. Montreal is now 30-27-2-5 while Victoriaville is 43-19-1-2.

Joel Champagne got the Tigers going when he put the puck past Etienne Marcoux for his twenty-fifth of year at 4:36, but David Rose tied it for the Juniors at 6:15. Yet, Joel Champagne scored again at 7:10 of the first to regain the Tigers lead before Guillaume Goulet put the Tigers up 3 to 1 before the end of first.

The Juniors came out in the second firing at all cylinders as they tied the game with goals from captain Nicolas Chouinard and Guillaume Asselin before heading to the third period even at three goals apiece.

The crucial goal came from Loic Poudrier, who gave the Juniors the lead at 9:31 of the third. Eliezer Sherbatov stretched the Juniors lead to two goals when he put the puck past Kevin Poulin at 14:13. But the Tigers would not let the game slide as Tomas Kubalik and Guillaume Goulet tied the game up late in the third with the two goals to force the game to overtime. Without any scoring in overtime, the game went to a shootout. It was Brandon Hynes who got the shootout winner as the Tigers topped the Juniors 6 to 5.

Juniors goaltender Etienne Marcoux stopped 32/37 shots in the loss while Kevin Poulin was sharp as he stopped 44/49 shots in the win. The Juniors will continue this road trip as they face the Lewiston MAINEiacs on Sunday, before they head to Moncton on Monday. The Juniors will finish this regular season with two games in Montreal against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at 7:35PM on Friday, March 12th, and Sunday, March 14th at 4:05PM.
