A Five Spot:
- Nicolas Chouinard's five goals against the Lewiston MAINEiacs on February 23rd not only led his team to victory, but established a new franchise record.
- In the game, Chouinard became only the 42nd player in QMJHL history to score 4 goals or more in one period (3rd). He also broke the franchise record of four goals in a game shared by St. John's Luke Adam (11/09/2007) and Montreal's Louis-Marc Aubry (3/15/2009).
- Due to his efforts against Lewiston, as well as an added goal and two assists at Shawinigan (2/27), Chouinard was named TELUS Offensive Player of the Week for February 22-28. He became the fourth Junior to win the award this season. (Matthew Brenton, Trevor Parkes and Guillaume Asselin).
Scoring 20:
- This season, rookie Trevor Parkes, veterans Jérémy Gouchie and Nicolas Chouinard all cracked the 20 goal plateau, making them respectively the 4th, 5th and 6th players in Juniors history to reach that milestone.
- Chouinard was the latest Juinor to achieve the feat with his 20th coming at home against Gatineau (2/21/2010). Oddly enough for Parkes and Gouchie, both milestone goals came against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Parkes hit the mark on the road (1/28/2010) while Gouchie followed at home (2/14/2010).
- With 5 games to go, one more Junior is on the cusp of the 20 goal plateau: Guillaume Asselin (18).
Weekly Accolades:
- Matthew Brenton, Trevor Parkes, Guillaume Asselin and Nicolas Choiunard have all been honoured during the 2009-2010 regular season as the QMJHL's TELUS Offensive Player of the Week.
- Parkes also took home honours as the CHL's Player of the Week for November 10th, 2009. He became the first Montreal Junior to win that award.
- Montreal is tied with Victoriaville for tops in the league, having both earned 4 such awards thus far this season.
- Last season, Angelo Esposito became the first and only Junior to win the offensive award. He received the honor following his 7 point performance during the week of September 29th, 2008, which included his 2 goal, 4 assist game at Victoriaville on October 5th.
First Impressions:
- It did not take long for rookie Trevor Parkes to prove that he belongs in the Q. After 59 games, he is tied for first on Montreal in goals with 26, including a team-high 7 on the power play.
- Amongst rookies, Parkes ranks second in goals, while his 41 overall points place him ninth in scoring, fourth amongst right wings.
