
Tigers Take Opener of Home at Home with Edmonton

Medicine Hat, AB - Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) notched his first four-point game of his career, all in part of a 8-2 victory for the Medicine Hat Tigers over the Edmonton Oil Kings 8-2 at Co-op Place Friday night.
The first period saw plenty of opportunities for both the Tigers & the visitors but it would be Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) would force a turnover at 7:27 able to break-in for his 14th of the season beating Oil Kings starter Beckett Langkow to make 1-0 Tigers. 15 seconds later it would be the orange and black countering and taking off on a two-on-one as Hayden Harsanyi (Calgary, AB) would be the recipient of a Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) pass to move the lead to 2-0. Mrsic would notch a secondary assist leading to the Harsanyi goal and giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead heading to the first.
The Tomas Mrsic, Oasiz Wiesblatt & Hayden Harsanyi line would continue to cook into the second period as Wiesblatt would tap home his 8th of the season from a nifty passing play from Mrsic with Reid Andresen (Saskatoon, SK) notching an assist on the goal at 2:02. Wiesblatt would once again benefit from a Mrsic pass back-door again at 10:44 pushing the Tiger lead to 4-0. Josh Van Mulligen (Medicine Hat, AB) would fire a shot through and a re-direct by Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) would be his 14th of the season at 11:39. Andresen would mark his second point on the night at 11:39.
Edmonton would respond 18 seconds later as Vojtech Port would solve Tigers starter Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB) at 11:51. Then on a late 5-on-3 powerplay as it expired Marshall Finnie would just sneak the puck past McCallum with just 12 seconds left in the 2nd to make it just a 5-2 lead heading to the third.
The Tigers would bring on a another trio of goals to close out the game, as Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC) would make it 6-2 on his 23rd of the season from Harsanyi & Bogdans Hodass (Jelgava, LAT) at 5:56. Then just 37 seconds later Shane Smith would snipe his 15th and second of the night from Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT). Closing out the scoresheet on the night was one an Edmonton power play, and Hunter St. Martin (Edmonton, AB) from Josh Van Mulligen would break-in for his 7th of the season and his second shorthanded goal of the campaign.
With the win the Tigers move to 18-7-2 and clear of Lethbridge & Swift Current for 1st in the Central Division and 2nd in the Eastern Conference.
