Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB - Oasiz Wiesblatt forced overtime but Tyson Zimmer would be the hero for the roadside as the Lethbridge Hurricanes defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 in overtime Friday night.

Just lone goal from the first period and the 6th in four games for captain Tyler MacKenzie (Red Deer, AB) at 4:13 finishing off a passing play with Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) & Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC). Both teams would go 0/1 on the power play and the Hurricanes would end up outshooting the Tigers 11-9 after the first.

A busy second period for Tigers starter Evan May (Nanaimo, BC) making 13 of 14 saves in the period including the Hurricanes first goal of the night on a 5-on-3 power play as Leo Braillard gets his 3rd of the season at 11:24 making it 1-1. Medicine Hat wouldn't waste time getting the lead right back 2:15 later as Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) would make a pass over to Reid Andresen (Saskatoon, AB) to make it 2-1 Medicine Hat. On the goal, Tigers forward Hayden Harsanyi (Calgary, AB) would mark his first point in the WHL. Despite being outshot 14-6 in the period, the Tigers would carry that one goal lead heading to the third.

Lethbridge would get things tied early in the third period with a Brayden Edwards power play goal 2:50 into the final frame. While shortly after at 5-on5, Noah Chadwick would find the Hurricanes first lead of the night at 6:17. The Tigers would need a late power play and the net empty before Oasiz Wiesblat would tap home his third of the season tying things up at 3-3 with just 22.8 seconds left in the 3rd to force overtime.

In the 4th overtime of the year the Tigers would fall thanks to Tyson Zimmer's 8th of the season on a re-direct beating Evan May and giving Lethbridge the extra point for the first of nine meetings between the two clubs.

Next up for the Tigers. The Everett Silvertips to close out their five-game homestand Saturday night.
