Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers have engineered a trade that will bring former McMaster University star running back KOJO AIDOO to the Tiger-Cats along with former University of Manitoba all-star kicker/punter JAMIE BOREHAM.

In exchange, the Blue Bombers will be given back their third round draft pick in this year's CFL Canadian College Draft. The Tiger-Cats inherited the draft pick from Winnipeg in the late August, 2003 trade which sent veteran Canadian linebacker Warren Muzika to Winnipeg.

Kojo Aidoo had a remarkable college career with the McMaster University Marauders where he set several team and Ontario Universities Association conference records for both a single season and for a career. His accomplishments included the OUA record for career touchdowns with 39. Aidoo also won the Hec Crighton Award in 2000 as the CIS Most Outstanding Football Player. That same season he was a CIS First-Team All Canadian, an OUA First-Team All-Star and the OUA Most Valuable Player. To further enhance his football resume, Aidoo was named to the McMaster Marauders Team of the Century in 2001.

Hamilton Head Coach and former McMaster boss Greg Marshall coached Aidoo through his college years and Marshall says he's excited at the prospect of having the 25 year old Aidoo in a Tiger-Cat uniform. "Kojo's an outstanding and very athletic player. He's a very good ball carrier, he catches the ball very well out of the backfield and he's a solid special teams player. We're going to provide him with every opportunity to succeed. I believe he can be a big contributor to our team."

The Edmonton Eskimos drafted the 6'-0, 240 pound Aidoo in the 2nd round (10th overall) of the 2003 CFL Canadian College Draft. Aidoo played in the first 10 regular season games with the Eskimos. He was released by Edmonton August 29, 2003.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added the talented Canadian prospect to their roster when they signed him as a free agent, October 14, 2003. Aidoo played in Winnipeg's last two regular season games as well as the 2003 West Division Semifinal.

Also coming to the Tiger-Cats in today's trade is talented and versatile Jamie Boreham. The Bombers first signed the 25 year old Boreham February 7, 2002 after acquiring his playing rights from the BC Lions. The Lions originally selected Boreham in the 2nd round (16th overall) of the 2001 CFL Canadian College Draft. Boreham, a native of Vancouver, B.C. attended the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2002 training camp but returned to the University of Manitoba after being released. The Bombers re-signed Boreham May 16, 2003.

"Jamie's an outstanding athlete" says Hamilton Head Coach Greg Marshall. "Not only is he a good kicker but he's also a very strong punter." A physical education major at the University of Manitoba, Boreham has a reputation as a flawless kicker and a hard-nosed, punishing hitter since he can also play safety and serve as a kick returner. " While Jamie will be coming to our camp competing as the punter/kicker for the Tiger-Cats, his added dimension will be interesting to contemplate," says Marshall. "Given Jamie's age and enthusiasm, I know he'll be competing at a very high level."

As a college punter, Boreham put up CFL-type numbers, with a 42.8 yard average. He once also kicked a 55 yard field goal for the University of Manitoba Bisons in a game against the University of Saskatchewan. The kick was the 2nd longest field goal in CIS history and remains a University of Manitoba school record.

Football runs in Boreham's family. His uncle is Kevin Konar, a former BC Lions linebacker whose career with the Lions ran from 1980 through 1989.
