Tiger-Cats Lock Up Three From 2008 Draft Class

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed three players selected in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft. First overall selection, safety Dylan Barker, fullback Mike Giffin and wide receiver Laurent Lavigne-Masse will be on the field for the Black and Gold's first practice at rookie camp Wednesday afternoon.

Barker, a 6-4, 200-pound native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan was a two-time CIS first-team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star with Saskatchewan. Last season, Barker led the Huskies with 53 tackles, three interceptions and four pass knockdowns.

Giffin, a 6-0, 235-pound native of Kingston, Ontario led the OUA in rushing last season and was named a CIS first-team All-Canadian at Queen's. In eight games in 2007, the Ticats third-round (17th overall) selection carried the ball 197 times for 1,206 yards and 13 touchdowns while making 23 receptions for 352 yards and four touchdowns.

Lavigne-Masse, a 6-3, 207-pound native of Montreal, Quebec recorded 33 receptions for 448 yards and nine touchdowns with Laval and was named a CIS first-team All-Canadian as well as a QUFL All-Star. Lavigne-Masse was the Black and Gold's fifth-round (33rd overall) selection.
