Spokane Chiefs News Release
After playing a pair of double overtime games, the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans will move the Western Conference Championship Series north to the Spokane Arena for games three and four on Monday and Tuesday night. Tickets are available for each game and currently on sale at the Chiefs office by calling (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
The series is tied at one game a piece.
The pair of double overtime outings should not come as a surprise as Spokane and Tri-City have played five straight overtime games in the playoffs dating back to 2002. In a five-game first round, games three, four and five went to OT with game four moving to double overtime. The Chiefs won the series and advanced to the second round.
Both games this series have been played to 1-0 scores. Ondrej Roman won it for Spokane in game one 49-seconds into the second extra session while Tri-City's Drew Hoff scored in game two at 4:17. For the Chiefs, it was their fifth and sixth 1-0 game in post-season history, their first since losing in game six of the 2000 WHL Finals to the Kootenay Ice. The Chiefs have also played six double overtime games in franchise history.
Dustin Tokarski, who has played every minute in net for the Chief through the post-season, has lowered his playoff goals against average to 1.31 and set a franchise record by not allowing a goal in 186:15. The Chiefs have allowed just two goals in their last four games.
With Tri-City's win on Sunday it guarantees that the two will meet this Saturday night in Kennewick for game five.
