Kazan, Russia -- Colby Robak, Brayden Schenn and Team Canada will be going for Gold Wednesday when they take on the U.S. or Russia in the Championship Final of the 2008 World Under 18 Hockey Championship.
Taylor Hall's second goal of the game, on the powerplay, at the 6:52 mark of the third period gave the Canadians a 3-2 victory over the previously unbeaten Swedes Monday.
Mathew Duchene also scored for the Canadians, who were outshot 37-18. Netminder Jake Allen was brilliant between the pipes for Canada, turning aside 35 shots for the second straight game.
Duchene's goal made it 1-1 after twenty minutes of play. The two teams were deadlock at two goals a piece through two periods.
The United States and Russia will square off later today in the other Semi-Final, with the winner to meet Team Canada. The loser will battle Sweden for the bronze medal.
This will mark the third time that Canada has made it to the Gold Medal final since it began attending this prestigious event. Five years ago the Canadians captured Gold and in 2005, they settled for Silver.
A 17-year old product of Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, Robak was a member of the Manitoba team that captured a Silver Medal at the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
Schenn meanwhile is one of three 16-year olds on the Canadian roster and is one of the youngest players in attendance at this tournament.
Wednesday's game will be televised live on TSN.
