
Thursday Night Series Opener Goes to Augusta, 5-3

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves fell to the Augusta GreenJackets 5-3 Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 3,880.
Augusta scored in the first inning on a run scoring single by Jonah Arenado but Rome took at 3-1 lead in the second. Tanner Krietemeier doubled home two runs and Reed Harper added an RBI single giving the Braves a two run advantage. The lead was short lived as Augusta posted three runs in the third highlighted by a solo home run by Aramis Garcia, a run scoring single by Will Callaway and a sacrifice fly RBI by Randy Ortiz for the 4-3 score. A fielding error by Jordan Edgerton and a wild pitch by Carlos Salazar in the fourth inning allowed another run to score giving the GreenJackets a two run lead. The Augusta bullpen shutdown the Braves offense the rest of the way preserving the 5-3 win.
Matt Gage (1-1) gets the win while Rome starter Brandon Barker (0-2) the loss. Carlos Alvarado (1) picks up the save.
