Mentor, OH - The Carolina Thunderbirds are excited to announce the signing of Tomas Goco to a celebrity contract.
Goco is a junior at WSSU and a left-handed relief pitcher for the Winston-Salem State baseball team and will suit up for the Thunderbirds for one game on November 30th vs. the Port Huron Prowlers.
Goco is a native of Clemmons, North Carolina and graduated from West Forsyth High School just outside of Winston-Salem. He stands at 6-8 and 265 pounds according to his bio on the WSSU baseball page. Goco posted a 2-1 record with one save in 35.1 innings last year over 21 appearances.
"We are very excited to have Tomas joining our team for this game" team President and GM Scott Brand said. "Besides him being a very talented baseball player, he grew up playing hockey in the Triad, so he can show off his skills in front of friends and family."
Fans can come to see Goco play with a special ticket rate for the November 30th game by following this link. All tickets using this link are discounted for fans and proceeds from the tickets bought with this link go to support the WSSU baseball team.
"This is a great night [Nov. 30] for Winston Salem State University Baseball also" Brand said. "We have provided their fans with a ticket link and hope to raise money for their club. The WSSU baseball club is one of the best in the southeast and I would encourage all fans to support Rams baseball."
Goco will practice with the team at his discretion starting November 25th.
