Carolina Thunderbirds News Release

Mentor, OH - The Carolina Thunderbirds conclude a three-game road trip with a game against the Mentor Ice Breakers on Wednesday night before coming home to open a 4-game homestand on Thanksgiving night.

Carolina is coming off of a weekend sweep of Elmira and look to go a perfect 3-for-3 on the road when the play the Ice Breakers at the Mentor Civic Ice Arena tonight at 7:35 P.M. The Ice Breakers will try and ride momentum in to the game against the first place Thunderbirds, after securing their first win of the season in Port Huron back on Saturday. Mark Essery had a hat trick for Mentor in the 6-4 win.

The Thunderbirds veteran leadership has been apparent so far this season, with team captain Josh Pietrantonio leading the way in scoring with five goals and six assists for 11 points. He leads the Thunderbirds in every category if you don't count CJ Blaszka's seven assists while he is on loan in Evansville.

The Thunderbirds seem poised to rotate goalies this week with three games in four days. This coming after Henry Dill got both starts in Elmira last weekend. Dill is leading the FHL in Goals Against Average (1.17), Wins (5) and Shutouts (2).

After Wednesday's game both teams will hit the road quickly for a 7:35 puck drop in Winston-Salem, with the series concluding on Saturday night with a 6:05 puck drop.

Other action in the FHL on Wednesday sees Watertown hosting Elmira and Port Huron hosting Danville. Then on Friday and Saturday the Enforcers host the Prowlers for two games while the Wolves welcome in the Dashers.

Wednesday and Thursday's games start at 7:10 P.M. on the Carolina Thunderbirds broadcast network (WTOB/TFM Sports). Saturday's 6:05 puck drop will have a 5:40 pregame show.
