Thunderbirds Rally to Defeat 14ers
March 15, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
After dropping three games straight at home the Thunderbirds bounced back and rallied to defeat the Colorado 14ers 111-107, Saturday night at Tingley Coliseum. Leading the Thunderbirds was guard Will Conroy, who tallied 27 points, eight assists and a steal. Conroy, who leads the NBA D-League in average points per game, is among the league's favorite in MVP candidates.
In a game that experienced 13 lead changes, Albuquerque, now 20-18, emerged victorious by going on a 12-8 run in the game's final five minutes of play. Colorado was undefeated when playing the T-birds when the game started but failed to keep that streak alive after being outrebounded 50-43.
Leading the 14ers to their first loss in the month of March were Eddie Gill and Trey Glider, who racked up 19 points apiece. Glider, a 6-9 guard out of Northwestern State, recorded a double-double with his 12 rebounds. Josh Davis chipped in 13 points, six boards and four assists in Colorado's losing effort.
Conroy received help from swingman Andre Agudio, who added 23 points and five steals while forwards Jasper Johnson and Antonio Meeking combined for 33 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists.
On Sunday, March 15th the T-birds will host the Tulsa 66ers, now 8-30, 3pm at Tingley Coliseum.
