Thunderbirds Acquire Tucker

Rio Rancho, NM - The New Mexico Thunderbirds announced today that they have acquired guard Dar Tucker (6-4, 205, DePaul) from the Texas Legends for a 2011 second round draft pick.

Tucker began the season with the Texas Legends and played 17 minutes in their season opener last night, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds. During the 2009-10 season, Tucker played for the Los Angeles D-Fenders and averaged 11.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 46 games, 12 starts. He also won the 2010 NBA Development League dunk contest.

Tucker played college basketball at DePaul University and averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game during his senior season in 2008-09. His 592 total points during the 2008-09 season rank eighth all-time on the single season DePaul scoring list.

To make room for Tucker, the Thunderbirds waived forward, Jason Miller.

On Monday, Nov. 22, the Thunderbirds will be hosting Fan Fest, their final preseason scrimmage of the season, at the Santa Ana Star Center. The event features $1 hot dogs and free admission. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for a team meet and greet with the fans, and the scrimmage will tip off at 6 p.m. Fans in attendance will have a chance to participate in on-court games, meet the Thunderbirds players and coaches, and play with Thunder Cat, the Team's new mascot. There will also be the opportunity for fans to select their seats and purchase season tickets or individual tickets for Opening Weekend on Nov. 26 and 27, with both games scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
