EARNING RESPECT - Tyler Hostetter was a late addition to the roster before opening weekend got underway, but his play after three games has quickly grabbed the attention of his teammates. Through three games, the Lancaster, PA native and product of the Philadelphia Flyers has recorded a point in each game, tied the game on Friday night with a shot from the left hash mark forcing overtime and finished the weekend with a pseudo-Gordie Howe hat trick. He scored the first goal for the Thunder 1:48 into the third, assisting on the second tally by Matt Summers and then came over to protect Matt Robinson after he got taken down in the neutral zone. His penalty in overtime was not assessed a fighting major, but he sent a message and earned the respect of his teammates.

STANDING TALL- Torrie Jung and Taylor Nelson got off to a good start over the weekend. Both faced a number of shots and kept the Thunder in the contests. Jung finished the weekend with a goals against average of 2.43, save percentage of .922 allowing five goals on 74 shots. In his first start since signing in Wichita, Nelson gave up three goals on 41 shots and preserved a win while only allowing one goal in the shootout. Through three games, the Thunder allowed 115 shots on net ranking Jung sixth overall and Nelson tied for eighth for overall goalie leaders.

BAD BLOOD- Wichita and Allen added another chapter to its growing rivalry on Sunday. With 16:50 remaining in the third period, Wichita was about to jump on the power play when the two teams bunched up in the slot area near the Allen net. Chaos ensued as three separate altercations erupted that included Matt Robinson tangling with Darryl Bootland. For the next six and a half minutes, one of the two teams would be shorthanded. When it was all sorted out, the two combined for 20 power plays and at one point had 10 players sitting in the penalty box at the same time.

93- Andrew Martens registered two assists over the weekend and now has 93-career assists in a Thunder uniform. The Calgary, AB native is in his ninth pro season, fourth in Wichita and has 124 career points in Thunder Blue.

ROOKIES IN THE ACT- Nik Yaremchuk and Jake Hendrickson were thrown into the fire and each rookie forward tallied a huge goal over the weekend. Yaremchuk got the Thunder going on Saturday night with a rocket past Allen goalie Bryan Pitton with under a minute remaining in the second period. Hendrickson scored the game-winner in yesterday's shoot-out winner to help the Thunder grab the extra point in Allen.

END OF THE ROAD- Matt Summers did his best to erase the nasty feeling from last May and has gotten off to a solid start. He assisted on goals in the first two games, had a goal and an assist before leaving the contest on Sunday afternoon. He is tied for the team-lead with four points.

THUNDERBOLTS... RG Flath had his goal streak stopped at two games yesterday...Hostetter and Summers are tied for second in the league in scoring with four points with several others...Mike Wilson had a goal and an assist over the weekend and is tied with four others for second on the team...Jesse Dudas leads the team in penalty minutes (21)...Wichita is first in attendance averaging 5,407 through two home games...

The Thunder heads to Denver to continue its three-game road swing on Friday, October 25th and Saturday October 26th. The next Thunder home game is Friday, November 1st against the Brampton Beast, which is Faith and Fellowship night, followed by a post-game concert with Abandon Kansas!
