Trenton Thunder News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Thunder, the Double A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and the friends and family of fallen Middletown (PA) Police Officer Christopher Jones will host a night of remembrance and support on Thursday, April 23rd at 7:05 pm as the Thunder host the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins).
A portion of the proceeds from the night's ticket sales will be donated to the Police Officer Christopher Jones Children's Trust Fund. The festivities will include: a moment of silence, ceremonial first pitches by Officer Jones' three children Christopher, Julianne and Brandon; a presentation of the colors by the Middletown Twp. Police Honor Guard, a picture montage of Officer Jones and his family, plus much, much more.
Officer Chris Jones was on a traffic stop on the northbound side of Route 1 near I-95 on the morning of January 29 when a tragic accident occurred that resulted in his death.
Officer Jones was known throughout the community for his dedication to duty, his love of family, his compassion and respect for all human-kind. He graduated from Bensalem High School in 1989 and attended a Criminal Justice course at Chapman University in California while serving in the U.S. Navy for seven years. Chris was honorably discharged from the Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class in 1996. After leaving the Navy, he returned to Bucks County and worked at the Bucks County Prison for two years as a Corrections Officer. Chris became a Patrolman for Middletown Township in 1998. He is the first officer to lose his life in the line of duty in the history of the Middletown Township Police Department.
