(Altoona, PA) - Trenton touched Altoona ace Stolmy Pimentel for six runs and ten hits in six innings and the Thunder held on for a 6-4 win in the middle of a three-game series Wednesday night at People's Natural Gas Field. Mikey O'Brien (2-0) allowed two runs in five innings to win for the second time in as many starts since being recalled from High-A Tampa.

Leading 3-2 after five innings, the Thunder broke out for three runs in the top of the sixth to grab control of the contest. Four of the first five batters in the frame singled against Pimentel (2-1), including a two-run single from Ali Castillo past a drawn-in infield. Ramon Flores' sac fly plated the sixth run against Pimentel, who entered the game with a 1.99 ERA.

O'Brien was pulled after allowing six hits and three walks in five frames. After Francisco Rondon gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Matt Daley and Branden Pinder combined to seal the win over the final three innings, with Pinder recording the final six outs for his fifth save in as many chances.

Tyler Austin opened the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the first. Slade Heathcott's RBI single later in the opening frame made the score 2-0. After Altoona got one back in the bottom of the inning, Austin struck again in the second, this time looping a run-scoring single that made the score 3-1.

Gift Ngoepe lined an RBI single in the fifth off of O'Brien to bring Altoona within one run, but the Trenton starter stranded two runners on base to keep the lead entering the sixth.

Austin, Heathcott, Neil Medchill and Kevin Mahoney all collected a pair of knocks to pace Trenton's 11-hit night. Jarek Cunningham and Carlos Paulino each had two of Altoona's nine hits.

The rubber match of the series will be played Thursday morning beginning at 10:30 am. Left-hander Matt Tracy (4-2, 7.39) expected to start for the Thunder while the Curve counter with righty Charlie Morton (1-0, 0.90), who is on MLB injury rehab for the Pirates. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR), 1490 AM (WBCB) and also streaming online begins at 10:15 am.
