
Thunder Splits Weekend

Wichita Thunder News Release
The Wichita Thunder went 1-0-1 last weekend, beginning with an exciting 3-2 win versus Missouri on Friday night. Tied at 2-2 in the third, Aaron Davis supplied the game-winning goal with just 1:41 left in regulation. Marc-Antoine Gelinas was strong in net, saving 32 of 34 to earn his fourth consecutive win. A.J. Gale and newcomer Matt Robinson also had scores for the Thunder. The victory was the Thunder's sixth in a row.
Wichita fell 3-2 in a shootout at home to the Bloomington Prairie Thunder on Saturday night. 20-year old netminder Peter Delmas saved 33 of 35 in regulation and overtime, and then four of five in the shootout while taking the tough loss. Matt Robinson potted two more goals, both coming in the second period in a span of 44 seconds.
Close Calls
Nine of the Thunder's 10 games this season have been decided by either one or two goals (six one-goal, three two-goal). Two of the three two-goal contests included an empty netter.
Steady Defense
The Thunder is tied for fourth in the CHL in goals against per game at 2.73. Wichita's 28.2 shots against per game ranks second. The Thunder has allowed three or fewer goals in seven of 10 games this season. Wichita has yielded more than 30 shots in just two games.
Goaltenders Shining
Marc-Antoine Gelinas is third in the CHL with a 2.00 goals against average and tied for fifth with a .927 save percentage. Marty Magers ranks seventh at 2.48. Rookie Peter Delmas saved 33 of 35 in his Thunder debut last Saturday during a shootout loss versus Bloomington. The trio has appeared in eight total games for Wichita, allowing three or fewer goals in all of them.
Bennefield Staying Hot
Right wing Jesse Bennefield is tied for seventh in the CHL with 16 points. Bennefield is riding an eight-game point streak (5 G, 9 A).
Point Producers
Aaron Davis and Bobby Hughes each have three-game point streaks. Davis has eight points in his last six contests, while Hughes has eight points in his last eight. Troy Schwab had a six-game streak snapped on Saturday.
Kaunisto Among League Leaders
Defenseman Steven Kaunisto is tied for second in the league with a +12 rating. Kaunisto has finished in the 'minus' in just one game this year.
Roster Notes
Center Matt Hubbauer and defenseman Daniel Tetrault are on the 10-Day IR.
