
Thunder sign Ray graduate J.J. Trujillo

Robstown, TX --The Coastal Bend Thunder announced today that they have sign former big league pitcher and W.B. Ray graduate J.J. Trujillo.
Trujillo is a former Major League Baseball pitcher with the San Diego Padres organization. Before making it to the big league he played college ball for Dallas Baptist and high school ball for W.B. Ray in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was awarded the Rolaids Relief Man award for the entire affiliated minor league system in 2000. He was signed as a free agent by San Diego in 2000 and traded to Kansas City in 2004. J.J. Trujillo was among the first to join the Padres system out of independent baseball and he made his way up through the system to join the big club for a brief stint in 2002.
The Thunder now have four former Corpus Christi high school players on the roster. Trujillo will join Toro Trevino (W.B. Ray), Alfred Joesph (Moody) and Raul Trevino (Incarnate Word).
Trujillo will be in uniform tonight as the Thunder take on the Edinburg Roadrunners for the first game of a four game series at Fairgrounds Field in Robstown.
