
Thunder sign LHP Ricardo Morales

July 18, 2009 - Robstown, TX - The Coastal Bend Thunder announced the signing of left hand pitcher Ricardo Morales. Morales, a Dominican Republic native now living in Tampa, Florida pitched for three professional organization over 4 years and has two AA seasons under his belt. He pitched from 2004-2006 for the Montreal Expos organization who then became the Washington Nationals. He pitched in 2007 for the New York Mets organization. He will add another much needed lefty to the staff.
Also signed today was Alejandro Martinez. Originally sign by the Cincinnati Reds, he pitched for the Princeton Reds in 1996-97 and the Alexandria Aces of the United League in 2008.
To make room on the roster the Thunder released starting pitcher Zach Beal and placed starting right fielder Mike Goss on the inactive/IR list due to the thumb injury he sustained last week. He will continue to coach.
