Thunder Shut out at Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Bloomington Thunder gave up a pair of goals in the second period and fell to the Columbus Cottonmouths 2-0 on Friday at Columbus Civic Center.

After a scoreless first period, the Cottonmouths struck first when Neilsson Arcibal weaved around a stick check on the left wall and tumbled the puck past Thunder goalie B.J. O'Brien with 16:59 left in the middle chapter. The Snakes increased the lead to 2-0 5:18 later when the puck trickled under O'Brien's pads and was slapped in behind the netminder by Arcibal.

Andrew Loewen stopped 36 shots for the shutout win while O'Brien made 42 saves in the loss. Neither team scored on the power play with three chances given to the Thunder and four to the hosts.

The Thunder conclude the road trip with a rematch against the Cottonmouths at 6:30 p.m. Central on Saturday.
