
Thunder, Oilers to Clash for StoneWolf Casino Cup

Wichita, KS (November 5th) - The Wichita Thunder, powered by Toyota and the Tulsa Oilers have the longest-running rivalry in CHL history. The two franchises, which are two of the original six in the Central Hockey League, announced the winner of their 2013-14 regular season series will be awarded the StoneWolf Casino Cup presented by StoneWolf Casino.
Wichita and Tulsa will clash 14 times this season and the StoneWolf Casino Cup will be presented to the team with the most wins in the series. If the two clubs should each win seven games, the StoneWolf Casino Cup will go to the team that recorded the most points in the series and goal differential will be used as the final tiebreaker.
"Wichita and Tulsa has been a long-standing rivalry in this league and has produced some of the most competitive hockey for the past two decades," commented Thunder General Manager Joel T. Lomurno. "We appreciate the partnership with StoneWolf Casino in this venture and hope this adds to the rivalry by bringing something more for the fans as bragging rights."
The winning team will be presented with the StoneWolf Casino Cup on March 22, 2014 at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita following the final meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Oilers. The StoneWolf Casino Cup champions will keep possession of the trophy until the next season.
StoneWolf Casino is located in Pawnee, Oklahoma at the intersection of the Cimarron Turnpike and Highway 18. An enterprise of the Pawnee Nation, StoneWolf Casino features more than 200 electronic games and a variety of promotions throughout the year including "Lucky Ladies Tuesdays" and "Macho Men Wednesdays." StoneWolf Casino is also home to Howler's Famous Barbeque which features mouth-watering steaks, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and sensational desserts.
The first meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Oilers is slated for Wednesday, November 6 at 7:05 p.m. at the BOK Center. The teams face off seven times in Tulsa and seven times in Wichita. The Thunder's next home game is Saturday, November 9th against the Missouri Mavericks.
