Oilers and Thunder to Compete for StoneWolf Casino Cup

November 5, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers and the Wichita Thunder, two of the original six franchises in the Central Hockey League, have the longest-running rivalry in CHL history. Today, the Oilers and Thunder announced that the winner of their 2013-14 regular season series will be awarded the StoneWolf Casino Cup presented by StoneWolf Casino.

Tulsa and Wichita will clash 14 times this season and the StoneWolf Casino Cup will be presented to the team with the most wins in the series. If the two clubs should each win seven games, the StoneWolf Casino Cup will go to the team that recorded the most points in the series and goal differential will be used as the final tiebreaker.

"Our rivalry with Wichita has produced some of the best hockey in the CHL for the past two decades and we are looking forward to another closely contested series this season," said Oilers General Manager, Taylor Hall. "Thanks to our outstanding partnership with StoneWolf Casino, we've created even more incentive for these two teams and another source of bragging rights for our fan bases."

The winning team will be presented with the StoneWolf Casino Cup on March 22, 2014 at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita following the fourteenth and final meeting of the season between the Oilers and Thunder. The StoneWolf Casino Cup champions will keep possession of the trophy until the next season.

StoneWolf Casino is located in Pawnee, Oklahoma at the intersection of the Cimarron Turnpike and Highway 18. An enterprise of the Pawnee Nation, StoneWolf Casino features more than 200 electronic games and a variety of promotions throughout the year including "Lucky Ladies Tuesdays" and "Macho Men Wednesdays." StoneWolf Casino is also home to Howler's Famous Barbeque which features mouth-watering steaks, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and sensational desserts.

The first meeting of the season between the Oilers and Thunder is slated for Wednesday, November 6 at 7:05 p.m. at the BOK Center. The teams face off seven times in Tulsa and seven times in Wichita.
