Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that they will attempt to double the number of tickets donated by local businesses as part of the team's "Tickets For Kids" program.
In 2006, over 10,000 underprivileged children from a variety of organizations attended games through the Tickets For Kids Program. In 2007, the team hopes to be able to host over 20,000 children through the initiative.
Tickets For Kids is a joint effort between the Thunder and local businesses and individuals to provide tickets to deserving 501 (c) 3 non-profit, child focused groups in the greater Trenton community. The program allows children to enjoy all the fun surrounding a professional baseball game when they might not ordinarily be able to do so. Donors to the program are sold tickets at a special rate and contributing to Tickets For Kids is a tax-deductible donation.
"For 10 years this program has been giving thousands of local kids the opportunity to enjoy Thunder baseball," said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. "Now, as we head into the program's second decade we are looking to the business community to help us kick this program up a notch."
Since 1996, over 56,000 children have enjoyed Thunder baseball because of this program. Non-profit groups that have benefited from the initiative include Home Front, Catholic Charities Family Growth Program, Mercer County Foster & Adoptive Family Services and the Reach Out Foundation of Bucks County.
"A simple $100 donation to the program will let us bring a group of twenty-five kids out to a game," added Taylor. "A tax-deductible $100 donation to give twenty-five kids a positive place to spend an evening is something I hope all the businesses in our region will consider."
Trenton Thunder season tickets, mini ticket packages and group outings for the 2007 season are on sale now by calling 609-394-3300 or online at www.trentonthunder.com.
