Reading Fightin Phils News Release

Reading, PA - After an absence of almost two calendar years, bobblehead dolls will return to the Reading Phillies promotional schedule. The team hasn't featured a bobblehead giveaway since July 10, 2005. The first of six this season will be handed out on June 6, 2007.

The demand from Reading's fans sprung the return of the spring-loaded collectibles. One of the six will be determined by a contest in which fans will vote. All six bobbleheads will be featured in an action pose.

"The fans spoke up and were clamoring for bobbleheads. They want bobbleheads, they need bobbleheads," said Reading Phillies General manager Scott Hunsicker. "The fans spoke loud and strong so we obliged them and now the action bobblehead is back to take its rightful place as the king of the giveaways."

Hunsicker also explained that because the fans wanted bobbleheads back so badly the R-Phils will have them select who will be immortalized as one of the giveaways through a Fans' Choice Election. While the first five giveaways feature a famous former player, the list of candidates for the Fans' Choice is comprised of many of the people/characters the fans actually interact with at a Reading Phillies game.
