Thunder Extend Roadrunners Skid

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners had their losing streak extended to eight games after an 11-3 loss to the McAllen Thunder Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Thunder (27-36) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first against Cory Goudeau (2-6). Antoin Gray reached on double to left center field and then came into score on an error that made it 1-0.

Wilson Batista led off the top of the second with a single and then stole second and third. After a walk to Zach Mandelblatt, Matt Redding hit an RBI single to right field that allowed Batista to score. Adam Matos then followed with an RBI ground out scoring Mandelblatt from third extending McAllen's lead 3-0.

In the top of the fourth, the Thunder sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs on six hits pushing their lead to 9-0.

After McAllen added a run in the top of the sixth that made it 10-0, C.J. Beatty got the Roadrunners (24-41) on the scoreboard with his 12th home run of the season cutting the Thunder's lead 10-2.

Alien Mora (1-2) allowed just two runs on four hits in six innings while striking out three for his first win of the season.

McAllen added a run in the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout that scored Mandelblatt from third making it 11-2.

Edinburg added a run in the bottom of the ninth on a wild pitch from Justin Jordan but he retired the side in the inning giving McAllen the 11-3 victory.

The Roadrunners and Thunder will play the final game of their series Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Aaron Guerra (4-6) is expected to face J.T. Zink (1-2) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
