San Angelo Colts News Release

Edinburg, Texas---After putting forth a valiant comeback in game one of the series, but losing 15-14 in walk-off fashion, the Colts would try to erase that from their memory on Sunday night. The Colts for the second straight night in a row though would lose on another walk-off, this time in extra innings. San Angelo would lose game two 5-4 this time in 10 innings.

Rio scored first on a homerun by Alexis Hernandez (2) in the bottom of the second and lead 1-0. The Colts would get even in the top of the third on an RBI groundout by Cory Patton and the game was knotted at 1-1. The WhiteWings retaliated quickly with a two-run homer by Leivi Ventura (15) and Rio was back in front 3-1 after three. San Angelo took their first lead of the game after scoring three in the top of the fifth on a Ronnie Gaines RBI double and a Cory Patton (20) two-run homer to go up 4-3. The Wings struck quickly again tying it up with a solo run in the bottom of the fifth and it was tied again at 4-4.

It stayed that way until the tenth, when the Colts loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the tenth, but could not push across a run. It would cost San Angelo as David Peralta doubled with two outs and was brought home on an RBI single by Wilmer Pino. The ball caromed off Mark Ramos' glove into left center and Rio would win in walk-off fashion for the second night in a row, this time in the bottom of the tenth by a final of 5-4. Gorman Romero took the loss, his first loss ever as a member of the Colts.

The Colts and WhiteWings go at it again on Monday in game three of this five game series. Monday's game is a very early morning affair at 11:00 a.m. In game three San Angelo will send out undefeated southpaw Logan Williamson (9-0, 4.44) against righty/pitching coach Alexander Concepcion (5-3, 6.13) for Rio Grande Valley. The first pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. with tomorrow's broadcast being internet only.
