Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ)- Omir Santos had two hits and an RBI, while Bronson Sardinha added two hits and two RBI, as Trenton beat Bowie, 5-1, on Saturday night. The game was delayed 1 hour 53 minutes at the outset by rain.
Bowie (45-47) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 3rd Inning on a Peter Bergeron solo homer off Trenton starter Charlie Isaacson. But that was the only run that Isaacson (6-3) allowed in 6 2/3 innings. He scattered eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts en route to the victory.
The Thunder (48-45) took the lead in the 4th Inning off Bowie starter Richard Stahl with a pair of runs on a double by Sardinha, set up by singles from Santos and Matt Carson, along with a sacrifice bunt by Eric Duncan. Trenton added a run in the fifth on a double by J.T. Stotts and an RBI single by Santos. Jason Brown made it a 5-1 game in the 6th Inning with a two-run single scoring Sardinha and Yobal Duenas. Stahl (0-4) allowed five runs (four earned) in 5 1/3 innings in the loss.
Bowie loaded the bases in the 9th Inning, but Justin Pope came on the get the final out and record his 19th save. The Baysox stranded 11 runners on base in the game.
The series finale is Sunday at 1:35 PM. Matt DeSalvo (5-3, 3.56) starts for the Thunder against Bowie's Kurt Birkins (5-6, 4.29). Game time is 1:35 PM.
