Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder avenged a defeat the previous night and toppled the Bakersfield Condors with a 4-3 win Saturday night at Stockton Arena.

Stockton's record finishes at 2-1 for the 2012 preseason, while Bakersfield dropped to 1-1.

Just 2:35 into the first period, Harrison Reed found Kyle O'Kane, who deflected the puck past Bakersfield goaltender Dusty Carlson to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.

The Condors would even the score just a few minutes later as Levi Nelson blasted a pass from Anthony Perdicaro into the Thunder goal at 6:25. Despite being on the defensive for two power plays, the Thunder outshot the Condors 13-7 in the opening frame.

Seconds after the end of a penalty in the second period, Jesse Fratkin stole the puck down by the Bakersfield net. Fratkin found a streaking Phil Mangan, who finished it into the right corner to give Stockton a 2-1 lead 1:37 into the second period.

Near the end of a Thunder power play, Mike Little carried the puck down the right side near the Bakersfield goal. Little's shot snuck between Dustin Carlson's skate and the goal, increasing Stockton's lead to 3-1 at the 12:02 mark. However, just 50 seconds later, Bakersfield's Brett Perlini converted a shot from the slot to cut Stockton's lead to 3-2.

At 12:19 into the third period, Bakersfield pulled level with the Thunder again after Michael Monfredo was called for charging. On the ensuing power play, Tyler Helfrich passed the puck through two Thunder players to Peter Boyd, who put it away from the right circle to even the score.

The Thunder would respond merely 37 seconds later. Nathan Deck found Garet Hunt, who put a re-direction past Carlson to put Stockton back on top, 4-3 with just over seven minutes to go in the contest.

Jimmy Spratt finished 2-0 in the preseason, picking up the win with 27 saves.
