Trenton Thunder News Release


(Portland, ME) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce that OF Melky Mesa has been placed on the 7-Day Disabled List, retroactive to 5/27/2011. In a corresponding move, OF DeAngelo Mack has been promoted to Trenton from Advanced-A Tampa. The transactions keep the Thunder 24-man active roster at its capacity.

Mack is hitting .291 with three homeruns and 15 RBI in 34 games so far this year with the Tampa Yankees. The W. Columbia, SC native spent all of 2010 with the Class A Charleston RiverDogs where he hit .252 with 12 homeruns and 56 RBI. The former South Carolina Gamecock was a 13th round selection by the Yankees in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.

The Thunder continue their four-day, five-game Memorial Day weekend series with the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field Saturday at 1:00 PM for the first game of a doubleheader (two seven inning games). Trenton's LHP Kei Igawa (2-1, 2.79) will face Portland's RHP Stephen Fife (5-2, 2.41) in game one. Game two will see the Thunder's RHP Cory Arbiso (3-1, 4.03) oppose the Sea Dog's RHP Jeremy Kehrt (0-0, 4.03).
