WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder added another offensive weapon to their arsenal today agreeing to terms with veteran forward Adam Calder.

Calder has spent almost his entire four-year pro career with the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) South Carolina Stingrays, where he averaged more than a point per game, totaling 257 points in 247 ECHL games. This past season he picked up 71 points and 123 penalty minutes in 70 games, along with a career-high 29 goals.

Calder's best season came in 2000-01, when he notched a career-high 72 points. He kept rolling in the postseason, picking up 19 points in 17 games, leading the Stingrays to the ECHL's Kelly Cup Title.

Prior to turning pro, Calder spent four seasons with NCAA powerhouse University of North Dakota (UND) Fighting Sioux, where he picked up 107 points in 141 games. His best college season saw him pick up 32 points in 1996-97, where as a teammate of former Thunder All-Star Tyler Rice, he helped UND to the 1997 NCAA National Title.

The 27-year-old Calder will attend training camp with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Manitoba Moose at the end of this month, along with Thunder newcomers Anders Strome and Darryl Green. Manitoba is the top farm team of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks. Calder has been called up to AHL teams on four different occasions, playing in a total of 13 games.

The 12th season of Thunder hockey is right around the corner, as training camp opens on Monday, October 6th. Wichita will begin the regular season with a pair of home games on Friday, October 17th versus the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Saturday, October 18th versus the Tulsa Oilers. Both games will face-off at 7:30 p.m.

Season tickets are still on sale, starting as low as $198. For more information or to order tickets, call the Thunder office at 264-GOAL or visit our website at www.wichitathunder.com.
