Killer Bees Announce Preseason Schedule

CONTESTS AGAINST RAYZ AND BUCKS INCLUDED IN CORPUS CHRISTI SHOWCASE

HIDALGO, TX: September 10, 2003 – The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League have announced their preseason plans to join the Corpus Christi Rayz, the Laredo Bucks, and the New Mexico Scorpions in the Corpus Christi Caller Times "Best of the Best" Preseason Showcase held October 9 – 11th. The Killer Bees are scheduled to play Friday, October 10th against the Corpus Christi Rayz at the Corpus Christi Municipal Coliseum and Saturday, October 11th against the Laredo Bucks at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Rio Grande Valley's game in Laredo will be the only game of the showcase played outside of Corpus Christi and all of the showcase's games will begin at 7:05pm.

"These games will build our rivalries," said Killer Bees Head Coach Tracy Egeland. "It gives us an opportunity to play against two division opponents we will see a lot of this season, and two teams that have highly respected coaches."

The preseason games will serve as the climax of the Killer Bees training camp, which begins with the players hitting the ice for the first time October 6th. Under CHL guidelines, the Killer Bees will only be permitted to invite 30 players into training camp. The Killer Bees will have to cut their training camp roster to 18 by the season opener on October 18th in San Angelo. The 18-man roster must consist of at least three rookies and must not contain more than five veterans.

The Bees will have workouts each day until their opening preseason contest on Friday, October 10th in Corpus Christi against the Rayz. Tickets for the contest in Corpus Christi will go on sale October 1st and they may be purchased by calling (361) 814-7825 or ordering through Ticketmaster at (361) 881-8499. The Bees then head west to face off with the Laredo Bucks Saturday, October 11th in Laredo. Laredo's game tickets will go on sale September 15th and can be purchased for $6 by contacting the Laredo Entertainment Center box office at (956) 791-9192 or by calling Ticketmaster at (956) 712-1566. Tickets for both events may also be purchased through Ticketmaster's website at www.ticketmaster.com.
