Clearwater Threshers News Release
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Clearwater Threshers fell to the Bradenton after a Marauders' late-inning rally on Thursday night at BayCare Ballpark.
The Bradenton Marauders (68-42) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning off an Alexander Mojica two-run homerun and extended the advantage in the third inning from a single, double, and an error that propelled them ahead 4-0.
Clearwater (48-59) got two runs back in the bottom of the third when Kendall Simmons lifted his second homer of the series to cut the deficit in half 4-2. The Threshers brought the game within one run in the fourth inning with a two-out rally. With two away, Arturo De Freitas, Wilfredo Flores, and Freylin Minyety all knocked singles to diminish the damage to 4-3.
Clearwater tied the ballgame with a single and three walks, one with bases loaded, in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Bradenton quickly broke the tie in the eighth. Hudson Head hit an inside-the-park home run on a line drive down the left field line that skirted into the far corner of the playing field and broke the tie. Jase Bowen followed up with a single, stole second base, and later scored on a ground ball off the bat of Maikol Escotto who reached third on a fielding error. Jackson Glenn walked and Endy Rodriguez fired a three-run home run that gave Bradenton a 9-4 lead.
The Threshers and Marauders meet up Friday night for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch on MARVEL Super Hero Night at BayCare Ballpark. The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a Threshers Captain America Bobblehead.
