
Threshers Cruise to Victory After Four-Run First

FORT MYERS, FL - Emaarion Boyd stole a career-high six bases in six attempts to help the Clearwater Threshers (37-14) open a crucial series against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (28-24) with a 10-5 victory on Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium. Clearwater and Fort Myers continue their series on Wednesday evening.
Mighty Mussels' starter Develson Aria had a tough start to the ballgame, which began after a delay of 90 minutes. With one out in the first, Aria walked Boyd, who stole second base, and Bryan Rincon before Gabriel Rincones Jr. loaded the bases with a single to right.
The next three batters walked in a run, with RBIs going to Otto Kemp, Jordan Dissin, and Felix Reyes to give the Threshers a 3-0 lead before Aria was pulled. Mighty Mussels reliever A.J. Labas came on for Aria and gave up a run on a sacrifice fly from Cade Fergus that extended the Threshers' lead to 4-0.
With one out in the third inning, Fergus singled up the middle off Fort Myers reliever Danny Moreno and advanced to second when Erick Brito was hit by a pitch. Each runner advanced a base on a wild pitch and Crawford drove in Fergus from third on an infield single. Brito scored on a groundout by Boyd to extend the Threshers' advantage to 6-0.
Kemp hit a hard grounder that bounced out of the Fort Myers shortstop Danny De Andrade's glove to allow him to reach on an error. Dissin was hit by Moreno before Kemp scored on a single by Reyes to bring the lead to 7-0. Brito's second hit of the game plated Dissin to give the Threshers an 8-0 advantage.
Fort Myers got on the board in the home half of the fourth with three runs to cut the lead to 8-3. Boyd led off the seventh with a single off Fort Myers reliever Samuel Perez for the Threshers and stole two bases. He scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield off the bat of Kemp to bring the lead back to six.
The Mighty Mussels added two runs in the bottom of the eighth, and Fort Myers reliever Johnathan Lavallee walked Boyd to lead off the ninth. Boyd stole second and scored on a single by Rincones Jr. that made it 9-5. Fort Myers put two on in the ninth, but the Threshers didn't allow a run in the final frame ti secure a 10-5 victory
Samuel Aldegheri allowed three runs on four hits in 4.0 innings, walking two and striking out four in a no-decision. Jonh Henriquez (8-0) tossed 3.0 shutout frames with one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts to earn the win. Braeden Fausnaught allowed two unearned runs in 1.0 inning, allowing two hits, one walk, and one strikeout. Jack Dallas finished the game in the ninth, tossing 1.0 shutout frame with one hit and one walk.
The Threshers' magic number is down to five after the victory over second-place Fort Myers...Brito set a new season-high with three hits...Boyd became the first player in the FSL to reach 30 stolen bases...He stole a season-high six in six attempts...
