
Three Winterhawks Prospects to Participate in USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Winterhawks would like to wish prospects Jason Zaccari, Damon Bickler, Tanner Bruender good luck as they are set to compete in the 2021 USA Hockey Boys Select 16 Development Camp in Amherst, N.Y.
The event will run from July 7-13 and include players born in 2005. The camp, in part, will help to utilize, evaluate and ultimately select players for the U.S. National Under-17 Men's Select Team that will compete in the 2021 Five Nations Tournament in Visp, Switzerland, August 16-21.
Zaccari, 16, is a left-handed defenseman that most recently included an outstanding season with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 14U AAA team in 2019-20, totaling 21 points in 31 games. The Santa Ana, Calif. native played a limited schedule with the Boston Jr. Eagles 16U AAA in 2020-21.
Bickler, 16, is also a defenseman that comes from the Dallas Stars junior program. This season he registered ten points in 12 games as a member of the Stars Elite 15U AAA team. As the team captain, Bickler also helped lead the Stars to USA Hockey Nationals in April.
The lone forward of the trio, Bruender, had a dazzling 62 points in 38 games this season with Chaska/Chanhassen Bantam AA 15U team. The 6-foot, 175-pound forward also played for the Minnesota Bolts 14U AAA and Blue Army 15U AAA this season, averaging over a point-per-game on both teams as well. Bruender is also familiar with Portland, having played for the Junior Winterhawks organization growing up.
