Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Three Sounders FC players have been called into international duty for the November FIFA window. Cristian Roldan (United States), Nouhou (Cameroon) and Yeimar Gómez Andrade (Colombia) are set to join their respective national teams for upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers. These players (plus any others yet to be announced) are set to depart following Sunday's road Decision Day matchup at Vancouver Whitecaps FC (3:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, Univision-Seattle, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
Roldan, 26, has 29 career caps for the U.S. Men's National Team, including 10 so far in 2021. He appeared in all five games for the USMNT in its title-winning run at the Concacaf Gold Cup this summer. The United States is set to host Mexico on November 12 in Cincinnati before traveling to face Jamaica in Kingston on November 16. Gregg Berhalter's side sits in second place in the third and final round of Concacaf World Cup qualification, three points behind Mexico with eight matches remaining in total.
Nouhou, 24, has four career appearances for Cameroon, including a pair of 90-minute performances during last month's World Cup qualifiers. Les Lions Indomptables are set to face Malawi on November 13 and Cote d'Ivoire on November 16 in the final two matches of the second round of CAF World Cup qualification. Cameroon sits in second place in Group D, one point behind Cote d'Ivoire, with the winner of each group advancing to the third round.
Yeimar, 29, earns his first-ever callup with Colombia, who currently sits in fourth place in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying with six matches remaining. Colombia is set to face Brazil on November 11 and Paraguay on November 16. Yeimar, who joined Sounders FC prior to the 2020 season, has started 28 of 32 appearances this season and was voted as a starter in the 2021 MLS All-Star Game.
With a one-point lead for first place in the Western Conference, Sounders FC (17-8-8, 59 points) heads into Decision Day against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday, November 7 (3:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, Univision-Seattle, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Seattle could also clinch the 2021 Cascadia Cup on Sunday, currently level with Portland for first place and three points ahead of Whitecaps FC.
