Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS-Led by a three run fourth inning, Frisco avoided a four game sweep to the Hooks, winning 4-1 Monday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Making his first Texas League start of the season, Neil Ramirez (1-0) threw six innings of one run baseball, and allowed only two hits. Chris McGuiness also slammed his fifth home run of the series.
The Hooks took the lead two pitches into the game, as leadoff man Jonathan homered to right off Neil Ramirez. He retired the next three batters, while Frisco picked up a run in the home half of the frame. Ryan Strausborger singled to center off Ross Seaton (5-4), and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Leury Garcia. Strausborger then stole third, and scored on a fielder's choice by Jurickson Profar.
In the fourth the RoughRiders created some separation, tacking on three more against Seaton. Chris McGuiness led the charge, notching his fifth home run of the series. Jared Prince and Val Majewski also added RBI's, Prince on a double, and Majewski on a single.
That would be plenty of help for Neil Ramirez, who allowed only one hit the rest of the way. The trio of Nick Tepesch, Tyler Tufts, and Ryan Rodebaugh combined on three scoreless frames, with Rodebaugh adding his first save of the season. Seaton suffered the loss for the Hooks, he allowed four runs over 4.2 innings, walked one and struck out four.
Frisco will get three days off for the Texas League All-Star Break (June 26-28), before resuming play on June 29 at Springfield. Cody Buckel (0-1, 4.50) will make his second TL start for the 'Riders, he will be opposed by Cardinals right-hander Seth Maness (3-1, 2.53). First pitch is slated for 7:05 and can be heard on KKGM 1630 AM or on ridersbaseball.com.
Frisco returns to Dr Pepper Ballpark on July 5 against Springfield. To purchase tickets, fans can visit the box office, or buy online at ridersbaseball.com.
