Houston Dynamo FC News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo will hit the midpoint of their 2018 campaign Saturday night when they host Minnesota United FC at 8 p.m. CDT. Tomorrow's match is the 17th in the 34-game MLS regular season and Houston comes in with a 6-6-4 mark, good for seventh place in the Western Conference table.

This will be the second meeting between Houston and Minnesota this year in league play and third overall. Minnesota rallied to beat the Dynamo 2-1 in Minneapolis on April 28, and the Dynamo eliminated the Loons from the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a 1-0 victory at BBVA Compass Stadium on June 18.

HERE ARE THREE KEY POINTS YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW AS YOU PREPARE FOR TUESDAY'S MATCH:

1. MACHADO - FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE - World Cup fever is gripping the planet, and Dynamo DF Adolfo Machado knows that better than anyone in Houston. Machado was the lone Dynamo representative in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, playing in one match for Panama as Los Canaleros made their first appearance on soccer's biggest stage. With Panama eliminated from the tournament in the group stage, Machado is back with the Dynamo and will be honored by the club prior to kickoff.

2. MÁS FROM MANOTAS - Much of the attention related to Houston's high-powered scoring attack this year has centered around FW Alberth Elis, but the man in the middle, FW Mauro Manotas, has quietly assumed the team scoring lead with nine goals on the year. With four goals in his last three league games and five strikes in his last four outings overall, the young Colombian is hotter than the Houston weather. Keeping Manotas in that scoring form would go a long way toward helping the Dynamo extend their seven-game home unbeaten streak.

3. CONTAIN QUINTERO - For the second straight game, the Dynamo back line will go up against an opposing player who scored a hat trick in his last outing. On Tuesday it was Los Angeles FC FW Adama Diomande, and while "Dio" didn't score, he had the assist on both LAFC goals in a 2-2 draw. Tomorrow, Houston welcomes Minnesota FW Darwin Quintero. The diminutive Colombian international scored three times in Minnesota's 4-3 win over defending champion Toronto FC on Wednesday and now leads the Loons with six goals on the year. It'll be key for the Houston back line to keep the 5'5" playmaker in check tomorrow night.
