Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- This afternoon, the Central Hockey League announced the Northern and Southern Conference reserves for the 2006 Obra Homes CHL All-Star Game which will take place on January 18th at Rio Grande Valley. The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will be represented by forward Scott Sheppard, defenseman Dale Lupul, and goaltender Ken Carroll.

Sheppard, who is currently playing for the Mudbugs' AHL affiliate the Rochester Americans, began 2005-2006 on a torrid pace which earned him the call up to hockey's next level. In his first 15 games with the Mudbugs, the Selkirk, Ontario native scored 18 goals and five assists including ten goals in his final five games before heading to Rochester.

Lupul, a 6'2 210-pound rookie defenseman, also began the season in training camp with Rochester and has appeared in 24 games for the Mudbugs this year. The Port Coquitlam, BC native began the season with points in seven of his first eight games and has been one of the Mudbugs' plus-minus leaders among defensemen throughout the year.

The 2006 CHL All-Star Game will be the fifth all-star game of Ken Carroll's six-year career and fourth in the CHL/WPHL. This season, Carroll is 7-6-2 with a 2.46 goals against average, which is currently third-best in the league, and a .909 save percentage. He will be making his third consecutive CHL All-Star Game appearance.

Tonight, the Mudbugs will host former head coach Jean LaForest and the Youngstown SteelHounds at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center. For more information, please call 318-752-2847.
