
Three More 'Birds Headed to Show

Memphis, Tenn. - The St. Louis Cardinals called-up three more players from Memphis following the conclusion of the Redbirds' season on Monday afternoon.
Left-hander Chris Narveson and infielder John Nelson will each receive Major League time for the first time in their careers. Narveson's promotion comes on the heels of a season that saw him lead Memphis in wins (8) despite only making 15 starts with the Redbirds. Nelson led the 'Birds in RBI (48) and home runs (21) this season.
Josh Kinney will join Narveson and Nelson as the most recent September call-ups. Kinney spent a month with the Cardinals and pitched in 10 games. With Memphis he was lights out all year, posting the best ERA on the team (1.52) and striking out 76 batters in 71 innings pitched.
Narveson, Nelson and Kinney join John Rodriguez, Anthony Reyes and Brad Thompson as September call-ups. Rodriguez, Reyes and Thompson were recalled on Friday. Major League rosters are allowed to expand beyond 25 on September 1.
Memphis wrapped up their season with a 58-86 record following a 6-4 loss at New Orleans on Monday. The Redbirds will begin their tenth season next year at home against Oklahoma on April 5. For ticket information visit memphisredbirds.com or call (901) 721-6000.
