THREE MEMBERS OF REVS' CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD SELECTED AS ATLANTIC LEAGUE ALL-STARS
Harris, Tejeda, Huchingson take home league honors
(October 11, York, Pa.) - Three members of the 2017 Atlantic League champion York Revolution have been selected to the Atlantic League's Post-Season All-Star team, it was announced today. Outfielder Alonzo Harris, catcher Isaias Tejeda, and relief pitcher Chase Huchingson were all selected as the league unveiled its first round of postseason honors. Players were selected through voting from league club managers, executives and media.
Harris was a unanimous selection after a standout season that saw him rank fourth in the league in batting (.315), tied for fourth in home runs (23), tied for second in hits (145), third in total bases (244), fifth in extra-base hits (52) and second in slugging (.530) while leading the league with 89 runs scored. The Revs' leadoff man also stole 31 bases, tied for the fifth highest season total in Revs history, in his 114 games played.
Having previously been honored as a midseason Atlantic League All-Star and the Revs' 2017 team Most Valuable Player, Harris became the 20th player in the 20-year history of the Atlantic League to total at least 20 home runs and 20 steals in one season, accomplishing the feat before the end of August. By the time the season ended, he had become just the sixth player in league history to total more than 20 home runs and 30 steals, and the first to do so in eight years.
Tejeda placed in the top ten in the league in batting with a .300 average (tops among catchers), fifth in RBI (78), tied for second in hits (145, matching Harris), and fifth in total bases (233). Also a midseason All-Star selection, Tejeda belted 17 home runs and added 33 doubles in his 121 games played.
Huchingson finished the year with a 4-3 record and a 1.36 ERA in 57 games out of the Revs bullpen, allowing just 39 hits in 53.0 innings, and accumulating five saves after taking over the team's closer role late in the year. The lefty finished the regular season with a team-record 30 consecutive scoreless appearances spanning 27.2 innings, as he did not allow a run after July 4. Also a midseason All-Star selection, Huchingson was previously honored as the Revs' 2017 team Pitcher of the Year.
"We're really happy for each of these three players who played a major role in our success this season," stated Revolution manager Mark Mason. "Each was very deserving of these honors, and they worked hard to put themselves in position to succeed."
